                   IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES

                             March 8, 2023

Mr. Risch (for himself, Mr. Cardin, Ms. Ernst, Mrs. Shaheen, Mr. Crapo, 
 Ms. Rosen, and Mr. Hickenlooper) submitted the following resolution; 
     which was referred to the Committee on Commerce, Science, and 
                             Transportation

                               RESOLUTION


 
 Celebrating the extraordinary accomplishments and vital role of women 
                 business owners in the United States.

Whereas there are over 13,000,000 women-owned businesses in the United States;
Whereas women-owned businesses--

    (1) employ more than 10,900,000 people in the United States;

    (2) generate nearly $1,900,000,000,000 in revenue annually;

    (3) have grown at nearly twice the national average; and

    (4) have grown from 4.6 percent to 42 percent of all businesses in the 
United States between 1972 and 2019; and

Whereas women entrepreneurs founded nearly 40 percent of new businesses in 2021: 
        Now, therefore, be it
    Resolved, That the Senate--
            (1) recognizes the vital role of women-owned businesses to 
        the economy of the United States;
            (2) commends the exceptional entrepreneurial spirit of 
        women business owners in the United States; and
            (3) celebrates women entrepreneurs in the United States.
