                                 A BILL


 
  To amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to provide a criminal 
 penalty for interfering with immigration enforcement operations, and 
                          for other purposes.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

    This Act may be cited as the ``Initiating Criminal Enforcement 
Act'' or the ``ICE Act''.

SEC. 2. INTERFERENCE WITH IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT.

    Section 274 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1324) 
is amended by adding at the end the following:
    ``(f) Interference With Immigration Enforcement.--Any person who 
knowingly impedes or interferes with an officer or employee of U.S. 
Immigration and Customs Enforcement who is enforcing the immigration 
laws, including destroying or damaging property of the United States 
being used for purposes of such enforcement, shall be fined under title 
18, United States Code, imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both.''.
