of Louisiana) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the

                                 A BILL


 
  To amend the Child Care and Development Block Grant Act of 1990 to 
      include certain safety requirements, and for other purposes.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

    This Act may be cited as ``River's Law''.

SEC. 2. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS FOR CHILD CARE PROVIDERS.

    Section 658E(c)(2)(I) of the Child Care and Development Block Grant 
Act of 1990 (42 U.S.C. 9858c(c)(2)(I)) is amended--
            (1) in clause (i)(XI), by striking ``; and'' and inserting 
        a semicolon;
            (2) by redesignating clause (ii) as clause (iii); and
            (3) by inserting after clause (i) the following:
                            ``(ii) shall include--
                                    ``(I) a prohibition on 
                                constructing, maintaining, or otherwise 
                                operating a pool on the premises of any 
                                facility where such services are 
                                provided; and
                                    ``(II) a requirement to install 
                                door and window alarms in any facility 
                                where such services are provided; 
                                and''.
