   following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Veterans'

                                 A BILL


 
To amend title 38, United States Code, to expand the set of individuals 
   eligible to transfer Post-9/11 educational assistance to eligible 
                              dependents.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

    This Act may be cited as the ``Veterans Earned Education Act''.

SEC. 2. EXPANSION OF ELIGIBILITY TO TRANSFER POST-9/11 EDUCATIONAL 
              ASSISTANCE TO ELIGIBLE DEPENDENTS.

    Section 3319(b) of title 38, United States Code, is amended--
            (1) in the matter preceding paragraph (1)--
                    (A) by striking ``member of the uniformed 
                services'' and inserting ``individual''; and
                    (B) by striking ``, has completed at least'';
            (2) in paragraph (1)--
                    (A) by inserting ``has completed at least'' before 
                ``six years''; and
                    (B) by striking ``or'';
            (3) in paragraph (2), by inserting ``has completed at 
        least'' before ``the years'';
            (4) by redesignating paragraph (2) as paragraph (4); and
            (5) by inserting, after paragraph (1), the following new 
        paragraphs:
            ``(2) has completed at least 17 years of service in the 
        Armed Forces;
            ``(3) is retired from the Armed Forces under chapter 61 of 
        title 10; or''.
