                                 A BILL


 
   To increase the apportionment of formula grants for small transit 
                           intensive cities.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

    This Act may be cited as the ``Small Communities Transit 
Improvement Act''.

SEC. 2. INCREASE PERCENTAGE OF FORMULA FOR SMALL TRANSIT INTENSIVE 
              CITIES.

    Section 5336(h)(3) of title 49, United States Code, is amended by 
striking ``3 percent'' and inserting ``5 percent''.
