Amendment sought to increase penalties against employers who violate the minimum wage provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act by requiring the employer to pay the employee the amount of the unpaid minimum wage or overtime compensation with interest for the first violation, and 3 times those amounts for two or more violations occurring within a 3 year period.
An amendment to increase the penalties for violations of the minimum wage laws and other provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. The penalty for a first offense would be payment of back wages, with interest. Penalties for successive violations would be equal to three times the back wages owed.
