Amendments as modified delete the wilderness designation for three areas under the Bureau of Land Management; provide that these areas will remain as wilderness study areas; make certain technical corrections; and provide for a land exchange between the Department of the Interior and the Catellus Development Corporation which currently owns land within the newly designated areas.


An amendment, as modified, that deletes the wilderness designation for three areas of BLM lands, and provides that these areas would remain as wilderness study areas. The amendment makes technical corrections, and provides for land exchanges between the Interior Department and a private corporation (the Catellus Development Corporation) which owns 410,000 acres within the boundaries of national parks and wilderness areas. Such land exchanges are similar to those established for exchanges involving certain state-owned lands.
