Amendment sought to place a cap of 30 percent of total income as the amount a public housing resident or family is required to spend on rent; and permit local housing authorities the flexibility to allow residents to pay less than 30 percent of their income for rent.


An amendment printed as amendment No. 7 in the Congressional Record of May 7, 1996, as modified pursuant to the unanimous consent agreement of May 8, 1996, to place a limit on the amount of rent charged for public assistance housing to not more than 30% of any family's income.
