Amendment reduces the appropriation for the Forest Service by $42 million in order to eliminate funding for construction of new timber logging roads in fiscal year 1997. \ Amendment subsequently failed on a separate vote in the full House. See Roll No. 266.

Purpose:

An amendment, printed as amendment No. 18 in the Congressional Record of June 18, 1996, to eliminat the $42 million in funds appropriated in the bill for the Forest Service for construction of new timber logging roads in fiscal year 1997.
