Amendment sought to establish as a monthly rent for a family, as determined by the public housing agency, an amount that does not exceed the greatest of either 30 percent of the monthly adjusted income of the family or 10 percent of the monthly income of the family.


An amendment, printed as amendment No. 5 in the Congressional Record of April 29, 1997, to eliminate the provisions of the bill that would require local housing authorities to allow public housing residents to choose between flat-rate rent based on rental value or a rent scale based upon the tenant's income.
