Amendment strikes the $100,000 homestead exemption cap that is in the bill and reverts back to current law; and denies the right of homestead exemption to someone who within a year of filing bankruptcy takes assets and places them into a home to avoid paying creditors.


An amendment numbered 8 as printed in House Report 105-573 to prohibit a debtor from converting non-exempt assets into exempt homestead property within one year of filing for bankruptcy.
