Description: H.Amdt. 505 — 107th Congress (2001-2002)
Amendment sought to strike provisions that allow the Secretary of Transportation to use Airport Improvement Program grants to reimburse airports for the cost of construction or improvement of a nonapproach control tower incurred after October 1, 1996 and to reimburse airports for the cost of acquiring and installing in that tower air traffic control, communications, and related equipment that was acquired or installed after October 1, 1996.
An amendment to strike the existing text providing for grant criteria and to insert revised criteria specifying that the Secretary may provide grants to a sponsor of a primary airport or a public use airport that is not a primary airport for the construction or improvement of a non-approach control tower, as defined by the Secretary, and for acquisition and installation of air traffic control, communications, and related equipment to be used in that tower.
