Amendment requires the President to direct the U.S. Permanent Representative to the U.N. to use the voice, vote, and influence of the U.S. to ensure the Secretary General exercises the right and duty to waive immunity of any U.N. official in any case in which such immunity would impede the course of justice.

Purpose:

An amendment numbered 1 printed in subpart A of Part 1 of House Report 109-132 to instruct the President to direct the United States Permanent Representative to the United Nations to use the voice, vote, and influence of the United States to ensure that the Secretary General exercises the right and duty to waive immunity of any United Nations official who is under investigation for or is charged with committing a serious criminal offense.
