per person.

Mr. DOWNEY introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee
on Education and Labor
A BILL
To amend section 311 of the Older Americans Act of 1965 to require the
Secretary of Agriculture to provide assistance for 2 meals served daily
per person.
  Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United
  States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. ASSISTANCE FOR MEALS.
  The first sentence of section 311(a)(4) of the Older Americans Act of
  1965 (42 U.S.C. 3030a(a)(4)) is amended by inserting before the period
  the following: `and, if 2 meals are served daily per person, shall provide
  such assistance for both meals if the aggregate nutritional value of such 2
  meals satisfies two-thirds of the dietary allowance established from time
  to time by the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Research Council
  of the National Academy of Sciences'.
SEC. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE.
  The amendment made by section 1 shall take effect on October 1, 1989.
