HR 4970 IH 101st CONGRESS 2d Session H. R. 4970 To repeal the Newspaper Preservation Act. IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES June 6, 1990 Mr. PURSELL introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary A BILL To repeal the Newspaper Preservation Act. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. REPEALER. The Newspaper Preservation Act (15 U.S.C. 1801-1804) is repealed. SEC. 2. APPLICATION OF REPEALER. Section 1 shall not apply with respect to-- (1) any joint newspaper operating arrangement entered into before July 24, 1970, and (2) any joint operating arrangement with respect to which the Attorney General of the United States grants consent under section 4(b) of the Newspaper Preservation Act (15 U.S.C. 1801-1804) before the date of the enactment of this Act.
