R. 5047 To provide for the establishment of a commission to recommend a standardized honor code for the three military service academies, the Senior Reserve Officers' Training Corps, and officer candidate schools. _______________________________________________________________________ IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES September 19, 1994 Mr. Underwood introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Armed Services _______________________________________________________________________ A BILL To provide for the establishment of a commission to recommend a standardized honor code for the three military service academies, the Senior Reserve Officers' Training Corps, and officer candidate schools. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``Military Service Academy Honor Code Act''. SEC. 2. COMMISSION ON STANDARDIZED MILITARY HONOR CODE. (a) Establishment of Commission.--The Secretary of Defense shall establish a commission to develop recommendations for a standardized honor code for use at the military service academies and officer candidate schools of the Armed Forces and in the Senior Reserve Officers' Training Corps. (b) Members of Commission.--The members of the commission shall be appointed by the Secretary of Defense and shall consist of-- (1) officers of the Armed Forces on active duty; (2) persons who are graduates of a military service academy but are no longer on active or reserve duty in the Armed Forces; and (3) persons who are educators at institutions of higher education. (c) Submission of Recommendations.--Not later than one year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the commission shall submit to the Secretary of Defense and the Congress a report containing the commission's recommendations regarding-- (1) standardization of the various honor codes in use at the military service academies; and (2) whether such standardized honor code should apply to the officer candidate schools of the Armed Forces and the Senior Reserve Officers' Training Corps. (d) Service Academy Defined.--For purposes of this section, the term ``military service academy'' means the United States Military Academy, the United States Air Force Academy, or the United States Naval Academy. <all>
