Congratulates the people of the Republic of Croatia on successful parliamentary and presidential elections and commends the outgoing Government of Croatia for the democratic standards with which it managed the elections.
Passed Senate amended (06/23/2000)
Expresses support for Croatia's commitment to western democratic standards and to the new Government fully implementing democratic reforms.
Expresses the sense of Congress that the United States: (1) should support the efforts of the new Government of Croatia to increase its work on refugee return, privatization reform, media reform, and further cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for Former Yugoslavia; and (2) continues to promote Croatian-American economic, political, and military relations and recognizes Croatia as a loyal partner in south central Europe.
