H.R. 5829--A bill to direct the Secretary of Defense to accept 
    additional documentation when considering the application for 
    veterans status of an individual who performed service in the 
    merchant marines during World War II, and for other purposes; to 
    the Committee on Veterans' Affairs, and in addition to the 
    Committee on Armed Services, for a period to be subsequently 
    determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such 
    provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee 
    concerned.
