Amends Title XVIII (Medicare) of the Social Security Act to authorize payment under the supplementary medical insurance program for services furnished by physician extenders.
Defines the term "physician extender' to mean an individual certified as a physician's assistant by the National Board of Medical Examiners, or who is licensed by a State as qualified to provide primary health care services.
