       RESIGNATION AS MEMBER OF COMMITTEE ON ENERGY AND COMMERCE

  The SPEAKER pro tempore laid before the House the following 
resignation as a member of the Committee on Energy and Commerce:

                                     House of Representatives,

                                   Washington, DC, August 8, 2018.
     Hon. Paul D. Ryan,
     Speaker of the House,
     Washington, DC.
       Dear Speaker Ryan: In light of recent events, I am 
     respectfully requesting to be temporarily removed from my 
     position on the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
       I fully intend to resume said position as an active member 
     of the committee, upon a successful resolution of pending 
     legal matters.
