                                 PRAYER

  The Chaplain, the Reverend Patrick J. Conroy, offered the following 
prayer:
  Eternal God, through whom we see what we could be and what we can 
become, I thank You for giving us another day.
  With so many dramatic and contentious hearings in these days, grant 
wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to all Members of the people's 
House, as well as an extra measure of charity. Give them peace and an 
abundance of prudence in the work they do.
  May all that is done this day be for Your greater honor and glory.
  Amen.
