IN RECOGNITION OF HOOSAC VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS' BASKETBALL TEAM

                                 ______

                          HON. RICHARD E. NEAL

                            of massachusetts

                    in the house of representatives

                         Monday, April 8, 2019

Mr. NEAL. Madam Speaker, I would like to take this opportunity to
congratulate the Hoosac Valley High School girls' basketball team on
winning the 2019 Massachusetts Division III championship. Hoosac Valley
defeated St. Mary's (Lynn) 66-49 in the final championship game. The
win capped a 21-4 season and the first State Championship for Hoosac
Valley's girls' basketball team after five post-season appearances in
the last six years.
The team's tremendous dedication and commitment to excellence was led
by Head Coach Ronald Wojcik, and the impressive efforts on the court
were led by senior captains Alie Mendel and Lexi Mercier--both
thousand-point scorers--and junior captain Riley Robinson.
It gives me great pleasure to extend my sincere congratulations to
the entire team, which also included Annie Canales, Cairagan Green,
Shaliegh Levesque, Kaley Winn, Faith Hall, Abby Hugger, Rylynn Witek,
Averie McGrath, Sarah Field, and Abby Bird. These student-athletes
should be proud of their contributions to this victorious season that
furthers the legacy of Hoosac Valley athletics.
Madam Speaker, the players, coaches, and entire school community
should be very proud of their accomplishments and exemplary character.
I wish the graduating seniors all the best in their future endeavors
and good luck to those who will return for a chance to win again next
season.

                          ____________________
