                                 PRAYER

  Reverend Gene Hemrick, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Washington, 
D.C., offered the following prayer:
  O Lord, during this season of spring, when You bless the cultivation 
of our fields and the sustenance which they provide, may You especially 
bless our Congress and the Nation with the sustenance of wisdom, 
prudence, faith, hope, and charity.
  As the fruits of our soil nourish us with life, may the fruits of the 
Congress' work strengthen the moral fruits of the country.
  At harvest time, may our country be enhanced with the joys of 
festive, heavenly life, which You intended for us from time eternally.
  Amen.
