                            PETITIONS, ETC.

  Under clause 3 of rule XII, petitions and papers were laid on the 
clerk's desk and referred as follows:

       12. The SPEAKER presented a petition of City Council of 
     Sherman, TX, relative to Resolution No. 6473, declaring 
     support for the designation of the Butterfield Overland Trail 
     as a National Historic Trail; to the Committee on Natural 
     Resources.
       13. Also, a petition of City Council of East Orange, NJ, 
     relative to Resolution No. I-109, in support of Congressional 
     Bill H.R. 40 which calls for the establishment of a 
     commission to study and develop reparation proposals for 
     African-Americans; to the Committee on the Judiciary.
