                                 PRAYER

  The Chaplain, Dr. Barry C. Black, offered the following prayer:
  Let us pray.
  O God, You are our hope and strength. We find peace and safety in 
Your presence.
  Provide our lawmakers with a spirit of wisdom so that they will trust 
You to guide them in their striving to be guardians of freedom. Lord, 
give them the perseverance to face whatever this day brings. Inspire 
them with the gladness that comes from Your guidance. Provide them with 
kind hearts, clear thoughts, and a quiet faith. May they see any 
falsehood that seeks to banish the truth which sets people free.
  We pray in Your great Name. Amen.
