  IN RECOGNITION OF THE 100TH YEAR OF BOY SCOUT TROOP 2 OF APPLETON, 
                          WISCONSIN'S CHARTER

  Mr. GALLAGHER. Madam Speaker, I rise today to honor Boy Scout Troop 2 
of Appleton, Wisconsin as they celebrate the 100th year of the Troop's 
charter.
  Troop 2 was chartered in 1919 and is the oldest continuous Boy Scout 
Troop in the Fox Valley. While four other troops were also chartered in 
1919, only Troop 2 has continuously held meetings. The longest serving 
Scoutmaster, Harold Brown, kept the Troop active from 1925-1962 through 
the Great Depression, World War II, and the Korean War. Today the Troop 
boasts over 50 members.
  Throughout the years, Troop 2 has remained committed to preparing 
young people to become leaders in their community. Over 120 Eagle 
Scouts hail from Troop 2. In addition, several Troop members have 
earned the Order of the Arrow, a Scout Achievement Award based on peer-
recognition that places a scout in the top percentiles of Scouting.
  Each year, Troop 2 dedicates countless hours to serving the 
community. Scouts volunteer at local nature reserves and YMCAs, and 
assist in trash and recycling efforts for community events such as 
Oktoberfest and Mile of Music. The scouts also go camping once a month 
and participate in weekly Troop meetings.
  Madam Speaker, it is my privilege to rise in recognition of the 100-
year celebration of Boy Scout Troop 2's charter. I would like to thank 
current Scoutmaster Ron Litsheim for his dedication to the success of 
Troop 2, and to the scouts for their service to and leadership 
throughout the community.
