                           EXECUTIVE CALENDAR

  Mr. McCONNELL. Madam President, I ask unanimous consent that the 
Senate proceed to the consideration of the Norquist nomination, as 
under the previous order.
  The PRESIDING OFFICER. The clerk will report the nomination.
  The senior assistant legislative clerk read the nomination of David 
L. Norquist, of Virginia, to be Deputy Secretary of Defense.
  Thereupon, the Senate proceeded to consider the nomination.
  The PRESIDING OFFICER. Under the previous order, the question is, 
Will the Senate advise and consent to the Norquist nomination?
  The nomination was confirmed.
  Mr. McCONNELL. I ask unanimous consent that the motion to reconsider 
be considered made and laid upon the table and the President be 
immediately notified of the Senate's action.
  The PRESIDING OFFICER. Without objection, it is so ordered.
