Mr. DeSAULNIER. Madam Speaker, I rise today to commemorate the life
of Bob Schroder, a longtime resident and public servant in Walnut
Creek, California for over 30 years.
Bob began his career in local politics in 1960, when he was elected
to the Walnut Creek City Council. He served on the Council for 16
years, including three stints as mayor. Throughout his tenure on the
City Council, Walnut Creek went through a transformation, including
increased development in the area.
Following his time on the Council, Bob was elected to the Contra
Costa County Board of Supervisors, where he continued his legacy of
facilitating and shaping development. He also served as a member of the
Metropolitan Transportation Commission and was the founding chairperson
of the Central Contra

Costa Transit Authority, now County Connection, earning him the
nickname ``Mr. Transportation.''
Throughout his time in local government, Bob exhibited an unwavering
commitment to serving and improving his community. As a public servant,
he was always willing to put aside political differences for the sake
of the community.
Bob will be sincerely missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing
him and will be remembered for contributions to Walnut Creek and Contra
Costa County.
