IN RECOGNITION OF THE TRADITION OF BRUNCH ON THE FARM IN SHAWANO COUNTY

                                 ______

                          HON. MIKE GALLAGHER

                              of wisconsin

                    in the house of representatives

                        Wednesday, June 19, 2019

Mr. GALLAGHER. Madam Speaker, I rise today to recognize the tradition
of Brunch on the Farm in Shawano County hosted this year by Goers
Family Dairy in Gresham.
Brunch on the Farm is an iconic Shawano County tradition that
provides the community an opportunity to see first-hand how a dairy
farm operates and learn about the significant role the dairy industry
plays in Wisconsin's economy. Community members meet dairy farmers,
explore the barns and equipment,

and enjoy a delicious meal prepared on the farm.
I am grateful to Goers Family Dairy for hosting the 2019 Shawano
County Brunch on the Farm. One hundred and fifty years ago, Goers
Family Dairy was established in the town of Herman. Brothers Jeff and
Matt Goers, fifth-generation farmers, currently operate the dairy and
milk over 200 cows. The milk generated by the dairy's cows is sent to
Saputo Cheese in Black Creek and made into a variety of cheeses. It is
evident the agricultural community greatly respects the Goers'
contributions to the dairy industry as Matt was recently honored by the
Shawano Area Agricultural Society as Shawano County's Outstanding Young
Farmer of the Year.
The Shawano County Farm Bureau organizes the annual Brunch on the
Farm by recruiting host farms, sponsors, and volunteers to support this
terrific event. Comprised of farmers and agribusiness professionals,
the Shawano County Farm Bureau promotes agricultural education,
leadership and awareness within the community.
Madam Speaker, I urge all members of this body to join me in
commending the efforts of Brunch on the Farm to educate the community
through this time-honored tradition. Thank you to Goers Family Dairy,
the Shawano County Farm Bureau, and the countless sponsors and
volunteers for their continued support of Wisconsin's dairy industry.
