  Mr. PERLMUTTER. Madam Speaker, I rise today to recognize and applaud 
the Severe Weather Shelter Network on being awarded the West Metro 
Chamber of Commerce Nonprofit of the Year Award.
  The Severe Weather Shelter Network was developed out of the Severe 
Weather Collaboration in 2012. The Collaboration is one of seven sub-
committees of the Heading Home collaboration in Jefferson County with 
the goal of addressing the needs of families and individuals 
experiencing homelessness during life-threatening weather, such as 
winter nights. As a Christian ministry, the group welcomes all 
volunteers who share a passion for aiding individuals experiencing 
homelessness.
  The Severe Weather Shelter Network partners with community 
organizations and agencies to provide overnight shelter on life-
threatening winter nights for individuals living on the streets. They 
work with local churches to provide sites to host individuals and 
families overnight where they can also enjoy a hot, homemade meal and 
friendly conversation. The group also connects homeless individuals 
with other much-needed resources.
  I extend my deepest congratulations to the Severe Weather Shelter 
Network for this well-deserved recognition and thank them for their 
continued service to the community.
