                                 PRAYER

  The Chaplain, Dr. Barry C. Black, offered the following prayer:
  Let us pray.
  Eternal God, ruler of the universe, we rejoice because You are near. 
Lord, we are grateful we belong to You, and You desire us to call You 
our Father in good and bad times. We can face any calamity with the 
knowledge that nothing can separate us from Your love. Death and life 
can't. Our fears for today and our worries about tomorrow can't. 
Whether we are high above the clouds or in the deepest ocean, nothing 
in all creation can separate us from You. May this knowledge of Your 
abiding and indestructible love inspire our Senators to trust You with 
all their hearts and depend upon Your wisdom.
  We pray in Your awesome Name. Amen.
