                                 PRAYER

  The Chaplain, the Reverend Patrick J. Conroy, offered the following 
prayer:
  Lord of the universe, father of us all, we thank You for giving us 
another day.
  As citizens continue to gather to express their frustration with so 
many ills in our time, imbue them with an increased sense of 
responsibility and good judgment that those who would engage in 
violence and destruction might be marginalized.
  Send Your spirit among Your people that we might be our best selves 
as members of an American community dedicated to constitutional norms 
of behavior and process.
  Fill all Members of Congress and the President with wisdom and a 
sense of shared purpose in providing the leadership needed to steer 
through the treacherous seas of unease during the pandemic and its 
resultant effects.
  Continue to bless those who labor to attend to the sick among our 
citizens and those also who strive to find effective treatments and 
vaccines.
  Comfort those who are ill and those who mourn the loss of loved ones. 
Keep us all safe in Your divine mercy.
  May all that is done be for Your greater honor and glory.
  Amen.
