                  ORDERS FOR THURSDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2020

  Mr. PORTMAN. Mr. President, I ask unanimous consent that when the 
Senate completes its business today, it adjourn until 12 noon, 
Thursday, October 1; further, that following the prayer and pledge, the 
morning hour be deemed expired, the Journal of proceedings be approved 
to date, the time for the two leaders be reserved for their use later 
in the day, and morning business be closed; finally, that following 
leader remarks, the Senate proceed to executive session for the 
consideration of the Newman nomination.
  The PRESIDING OFFICER. Without objection, it is so ordered.
  Mr. PORTMAN. I suggest the absence of a quorum.
  The PRESIDING OFFICER. The clerk will call the roll.
  The senior assistant legislative clerk proceeded to call the roll.
  Mr. PORTMAN. Mr. President, I ask unanimous consent that the order 
for the quorum call be rescinded.
