                        MESSAGES FROM THE HOUSE

  At 10:23 a.m., a message from the House of Representatives, delivered 
by Mr. Novotny, one of its reading clerks, announced that the House has 
passed the following bill, in which it requests the concurrence of the 
Senate:

       H.R. 1230. An act to amend the Age Discrimination in 
     Employment Act of 1967 and other laws to clarify appropriate 
     standards for Federal employment discrimination and 
     retaliation claims, and for other purpose.
