  Mr. PORTMAN. Mr. President, I ask unanimous consent that the Senate 
proceed to executive session and resume consideration of the Newman 
nomination.
  The PRESIDING OFFICER. Without objection, it is so ordered.
  The Senate resumed consideration of the nomination of Michael Jay 
Newman, of Ohio, to be United States District Judge for the Southern 
District of Ohio.
