HONORING THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF PARKER-GRAY HIGH SCHOOL

                                 ______

                       HON. DONALD S. BEYER, JR.

                              of virginia

                    in the house of representatives

                        Friday, October 2, 2020

Mr. BEYER. Madam Speaker, it is with great pleasure that I recognize
the 100th anniversary of the Parker-Gray High School in the City of
Alexandria, Virginia.
Parker-Gray High School opened in September of 1920 and provided
countless African American students with a comprehensive education
during a time of segregation. Though faced with adversity--lack of
resources, teachers, and facilities--Parker-Gray was able to provide
students with what is now understood as a fundamental right.
The alumnae of Parker-Gray took their education and were able to
apply it to not only the City of Alexandria, but to all aspects of
their lives.
Please join me in honoring the 100th anniversary of Parker-Gray High
School. It is important that we continue its mission and ensure the
Parker-Gray legacy lives on.
