                                      House of Representatives

                                      Washington, DC, May 7, 2020.
Dear Speaker Pelosi: Please accept this letter as a formal
resignation of my position on the Oversight and Government
Reform Committee; a seat I hold on a waiver, to allow for
newly elected member, Rep. Kweisi Mfume to be appointed. In a
time when oversight and accountability is of the utmost
importance, I am honored to have served alongside my
colleagues working to root our waste, fraud, and abuse in
government to improve the lives of all Americans.
I ran for Congress on the promise of holding those who
threaten our democracy and institutions accountable. Thank
you for the opportunity to raise issues of critical
importance to our democracy and give my unique perspective to
ensure our government is working for New Mexico families and
the American people. If an opportunity to serve on this
committee were to become available in the future, I stand
     ready to fill the position.
I am available to offer any assistance necessary to
facilitate a seamless transition of duties and
responsibilities to my successor. I trust Representative
Mfume will continue to contribute to the much-needed
investigative work taking place in our nation's capital. I
look forward to the continued success of this committee.
           Sincerely,
                                                      Deb Haaland,
                                               Member of Congress.

The SPEAKER pro tempore. Without objection, the resignation is
accepted.
  There was no objection.
