CELEBRATING LIFE, LIBERTY, PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS THIS JULY FOURTH

(Mr. JOHNSON of South Dakota asked and was given permission to
address the House for 1 minute and to revise and extend his remarks.)
Mr. JOHNSON of South Dakota. Mr. Speaker, on July 3, 1776, John Adams
expressed his belief that the signing of the Declaration of
Independence should be commemorated ``with pomp and parade, with shows,
games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations from one end of
this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.''
Well, I actually think we are going to check most of those boxes this
July 3 in South Dakota in the beautiful Black Hills, as President Trump
is there to watch fireworks over the incredible Mount Rushmore.
Now, I know there is a lot of political unrest in this country. On
any given day, there is plenty of political unrest in this Chamber. But
July Fourth should be a time for us to come together and celebrate what
binds us together: life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness.
